Harry Potter Movies & Books From Best to Worst
Hello! Today I'll be putting the Harry Potter movies AND the books in order from best to worst. There are five categories: Perfect, Great, Good, Okay, and Meh.
! Warning ! there's a spoiler for OOtP somewhere in there.
Oh and let's just ignore that I haven't watched the Deathly Hallows movies yet for some unknown reason
In order from best to worst:
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (book)
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (book)
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (movie)

- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (book)
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (movie)
- Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
~ Perfect ~
- HBP book: this book is so comforting to me for some reason. It's a good length and just think it's a perfect book for a rainy day. Or a snowy day. Or any day.
- OOtP book: I have always loved this one. From the first time I read the series, it was my favorite one, and even though it isn't anymore, it's still one of the better books. I love Dumbledore's Army. But I vote for the title of this book to be changed to "Harry Potter and the Really Really Horrible Teacher", because that's what most of it is.
- PoA movie: THIS IS MY ULTIMATE COMFORT MOVIE. I love this one so much. I like seeing Remus and Sirius, of course, plus the general atmosphere of the movie.
- OOtP movie: This movie is amazing. I LOVE the Dumbledore's Army scenes. It's the shortest movie, but I felt like they dealt with the Umbridge scenes well. PoA is more accessible for me though, because (!!!!SPOILER!!!!) Sirius dies in this one.
~ Great ~
- PoA book: I really like this one. I haven't read it in a long time, but I'm rereading it now and it's better than I remember.
- GoF book: I used to dislike this book but now I'm realizing: it's really, really great. No matter what mood I'm in, I will always be up for reading a chapter or two of this. I feel like this is also the ~transition~ book in the series, if you know what I mean. It's very standout to me and super unique. It has an amazing plot too.
- CoS movie: This movie is so underrated. The book was kinda meh, but the movie was so great. It's also the longest movie though, so I don't watch it very often, but that fact also makes it a great escape from reality when I need one.
~ Good ~
- CoS book: I gotta say, I think I might like the movie of this one better. It's just kind of brief. Lockhart is more annoying in the book than in the movie lol
- SS movie: there are a lot of things wrong with this movie, but it is the first one and it's a great introduction to the world. It's also very Christmassy.
- DH book: this book wrapped up the series SO WELL. I will forever be impressed with the conclusion to this epic series. However, it's very sad, so maybe that's why it's only in Good.
Also, I hate seeing Harry grow up, it makes me emotional :sob:
~ Okay ~
- HBP movie: I was very very disappointed in this because it was my favorite book and I was excited for the movie. But I was really let down. Too much romance and not enough action. It really was making me long for the high stakes and close calls of the Triwizard Tournament, y'know? And not that I didn't love the Draco scenes, but it's overrated for that reason.
BUT - I was holding in tears of laughter, the whole thing was so awkward and the humor was so d r y I loved it. The funniness saved this one.
~ Meh ~
- SS book: I can barely even read this anymore because I know every single word of it - I mean, I couldn't recite it or anything, but it's hard to focus when I'm reading this. Let's be honest, I only like this one for the nostalgia.
- GoF movie: worst HP movie. They left SO much out and changed SO many things. Plus they ruined the big plot twist. There are many things that I like about this movie, but they just can't cancel out all the bad things.
- CC: I might go over this in another post, but it's too long to fit here. This was the worst thing that ever happened to the HP franchise 😡
Thanks for reading! Please remember that these are my opinions. Have a nice day!
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
