Old Writing

You know my favorite thing to read? Stuff that I wrote a long time ago.

That might seem silly. But I really enjoy it. I find it inspiring.

Let’s say your teacher asks you to write a short story for homework. You have no idea where you should start. In frustration, you come home and leaf through your old school binders. Then, you see a page of sentences you wrote in third grade. They’re actually pretty good. You start to read. Then, something catches your eye.

Donald knew the sound had come from the basement; he also knew it definitely wasn’t the cat.

Aha! You think. I can write a story off of that.

See? Try it yourself. I guarantee you’ll be surprised. Who knows? You might be more talented than you think.
